As you probably know, it is quite common in America that the very first sample of a new car is put up for a charity auction. This is exactly what happened last weekend with the new GMC Hummer EV, and VIN 001 brought in (wait) … $ 2.5 million.
Two and a half million dollars!
Apparently, someone was desperately trying to be first in line for the reborn Hummer. VIN 001 is a fully production car in the edition 1 specification – the rest of the cars will be built before the end of this year, and they are all reserved anyway.
In addition to the 1,000 hp three-motor electric transmission. the wealthy new owner gets the Extreme Off-Road Package, which includes 18-inch wheels, 35-inch tires, underbody protection and underside tubes. There’s also adaptive air suspension, 350kW charging, all-four-wheel steering with diagonal motion function (very cool) and the latest Super Cruise. Oh, and this is a Hummer, which accelerates to a hundred in 3 seconds.
